An elderly woman sits knitting in an open doorway of a timber house, seen in profile, a checked kerchief over her head, a small-checked bodice and a striped apron across her lap. The frame’s heavy posts stand at right, while the opening behind leads into a parlour with a lace-curtained window, potted plants on the sill, a chair, and light entering from the upper left; a woven basket stands on the floor beside her, and a separate view shows plates along a kitchen wall. The composition sets the shadowed foreground against the bright window at the back, the strongest light in the print. Contrast is high, and the interior is rendered in soft pictorialist focus.

Technical Details: Likely a gelatin silver or pictorialist pigment print, soft in handling, mounted on cream card. The verso is inscribed in ink with the title «Bondekone», the artist's name, and his Oslo address at Waldemar Thranes gate 64.
