The eye enters on the wheel ruts of a dirt road curving across the foreground and follows them toward a second track climbing into the valley. The fence runs along the road; beyond it, cattle lie in an open field, and a lone bare tree stands at the right. Wooded slopes rise into the distance, their tops fading toward pale in autumn haze. Taken at eye level along the road, the composition draws the near ground sharp and lets the background soften. Contrast is low to moderate, the tonal range compressed toward the pale upper register.
The verso carries two exhibition labels. The earlier records that the print was accepted and hung at Fredriksstad Foto-Klub’s second national exhibition for pictorial photography in 1927; the later is the printed grey label of Oslo Kamera Klubb’s twenty-fifth anniversary cavalcade, 19–24 March 1946. A typed slip on the verso lists the work under a second title, «Höststemning» (Autumn Ambience). Olaf Christoffersen was an active member of Oslo Kamera Klubb from 1924, serving as treasurer and later vice-chairman.
