A young man sits turned three-quarters to the left, his right forearm resting along the back of a wooden chair, his hand hanging over the edge. He wears a dark suit, a striped shirt and a bow tie, with a fine chain crossing the waistcoat. The figure is lit from the left against a plain, dark ground that falls away behind him, and the print is held in a warm, moderate-contrast register with the face and hands carrying the highlights. A three-quarter-length studio portrait, closely composed. The sitter is the photographer: the mount is titled Undertegnede — “the undersigned” — and signed and dated below.

Technical Details: Gelatin silver print, mounted on grey mottled board with a white window rule; titled Undertegnede in ink at lower left of the mount and signed Christoffersen 1924 in pencil at lower right. A studio self-portrait.
