The view is taken from close above, steeply down onto sunlit gravel. The eye reads first the legs of two children, cut off at the knee, and the spoked wheels of a scooter and a tricycle, then follows the long shadows these throw toward the viewer across the lower half of the frame. At the top, snow and a low fence close the ground. The shadows carry as much of the composition as the children themselves; contrast is high and the definition sharp, the light raking from behind to lay the dark shapes across the bright gravel.

Technical Details: Gelatin silver print, sharply rendered in the modernist manner. No signature, title or date is recorded on the object; the title is assigned by the project.
